The Next Mountain We Are Climbing Together
It’s never okay to tell God, “Thanks for everything, we’re all set now. We’re just going to hang out here and chill. Oh, and we don’t have any more room for new folks.”
That’s why, several years ago, we identified a unifying rally cry for our congregation and continuously seek and set milestones that focus everything we do on climbing our next mountain together.
Lake Forest’s vision is based on the final words of encouragement and instruction Jesus gave His disciples before He ascended into heaven:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8
We call our unique expression of God’s commandment “the One Mores”:
- One More Person (in our Jerusalem): Forming authentic relationships, sharing God’s work in our life and inviting people into community in Christ – one person at a time.
- One More Church (in our Judea): Planting churches (like LFC and not like LFC) every three years.
- One More Neighborhood (in our Samaria): Building up local neighborhoods – especially those which are vulnerable – through acts of mercy and kindness.
- One More Leader (for God’s glory to the ends of the earth): Training and mentoring the next generation of church leaders through LFC’s School of Ministry.
