At LFCD we are prayerfully and cautiously moving forward with plans for mission trips in the summer and winter of 2021. (Ohio, Abaco, and Bolivia) If you are curious about or interested in coming on a mission trip, please email Missions Coordinator Katie Macturk with any questions or concerns you may have. Hope you can join us!
Trip Leaders: Bob Gordon (bobgordon@mac.com) & Doug Arrington (arringtondoug@gmail.com) – This coming February, be part of a men’s team from Storyhill Church (Lake Forest Davidson) serving in Marsh Harbor, Abaco—an area of the Bahamas still recovering from Hurricane Dorian. Partnering with the Caribbean Youth Network, this construction team will focus on rehabbing and restoring family homes that have been unlivable since the hurricane. While construction and trades skills will be put to great use, this trip is for any guys 16 and older who have a heart to serve (and work hard), want to connect with other guys, and want make an impact in Jesus’ name.
Jesus gives us the power and command to “go” make disciples and care for those in need. Therefore, Lake Forest Church joins the Missio Dei (mission of God) by engaging in the lives of vulnerable people; the homeless and home-bound, orphans and widows and the unreached and overlooked. Our goal is to share God’s love with our actions and words.
There are several ways we encourage our ministry partners to participate in the missio Dei – here in Davidson, in the greater Lake Norman area, and around the world. Every year we organize Serve Day, a day of service for various families and organizations in our community. Every winter our church partners with local Christian organizations to help invest in and expand their mission. Every summer groups travel around the country and around the world on cross-cultural mission trips. As growing disciples, each of us is called to take our next step in participating in the missio Dei.
